Redondo Beach Superbowl 10K
Wow!! What a fun event! Two day expo, costume contest morning of race, FREE BEER Garden Post Race!!
Decided that I needed to get out and do a road race since I am now an ambassador to a running shoe company! Gotta represent!! Went down about 6am for race day sign up thinking I needed to be there right on the dot! Could have slept in a bit longer

Cold and breezy, but no clouds and waves breaking over the jetty just made for a cool vibe! Costume contestants started showing up around 7am and there were lots of Michael Jackson, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Transformers, Vikings and about 20 dudes in banana hammocks dressed as Saints/Colts. Basically Speedos with skin painted team colors and numbers. They ran the 5K throwing a football the whole time!! Costume winner had to have been the tall African American guy dressed like Frozone from the Incredibles! 
The 10K is pretty flat, though there are a couple gradual uphills and one steep uphill for about 3/10 mile at 4.6 miles in. My 305 measured course at 6.3miles. Plan was to go out at 7:30 for 2 miles then pick it up for 2, then pick it up for 2 again. First mile was 6:46!!
Oh, well at that point. IP is 7:02 so decided to see if I could go that pace for entire race. Ended up at 7:04 for whole race at 44:40 which is PR for 10K. Not done many stand alone road races so I think I could knock a few minutes out of the time at some point. Decided to use it as a test and bumped vDot to 47! I also did Power Clinic bike workout Saturday morning so did not feel like there was a lot of "pop" in my legs!
Totally fun event and highly recco if ever in area at Super Bowl time!!
