Is Appleton, WI a bad drive to Madison?

Starting to look for flights to IMMoo.

Getting some Delta alerts, some decent deals but they seem to like Appleton.  Haven't seen any Madison stuff.

Mapquest says it's a 2 hr drive.

I wonder if the 2hr drive is worth the money saved by not flying into Madison.

You got any more info on that?

    Hi Chris,

    It's pretty straightforward/low stress. Another option is to drive from O'Hare - it's a straight run up the interstate in a little over 2 hrs and obviously there are lots more options with flights. I live in Madison but regularly drive down to O'Hare because of the cost.

    Another option is to take the bus from O'Hare - they run approx every hour. It's $29 and drops you right downtown Madison http://www.coachusa.com/vangalder/

    You could also fly into Milwaukee.  About 75 minute drive to Madison.  Probably have buses to Madison from there too.

    I live in the noerthern burbs of Chicago, and the drive to Madison is just about 2 hours all on the highway. Not bad at all. You can easily make it from O'hare in 2 hours.

    Former Milwaukee guy who used to drive to Madison to ride the IM Moo course all the time. I now fly back on a regular basis back to WI for work. Cheapest fares are typically to Milwaukee. The drive to Madison is really easy. Look at Southwest. They're starting to be more aggressive with fares. Good luck.
