Swimspray? Does it work? What do you use?

I considered putting this Q in the Woman's forum but I figure even the boyz have an issue of smelling like Chlorine after a swim, so perhaps you guys can offer some thoughts as well.

I'm back in the pool again and my hair feels like straw and my skin smells like chlorine, so I'm considering trying one of the 1000 "remove chlorine from your hair" products that are out there.  The question is, which one?  SwimSpray (http://www.swimspray.com/) looks pretty easy to use along with your own favorite shampoo- so I like that idea, but does it really work?

Has anyone tried it?  What are you using? (I promise not to tell the coaches you are swimming in the OS )

  • I've used Kiss My Face Sport...http://www.kissmyface.com/natural-body-soaps/item/88/Active-Athletic-Shower---Bath-Gel ... it does okay but does not 100% stop the Eau de Pool from coming through. It did stop my itching from the dry skin!

There is also ye olde Ultraswim... http://www.ultraswim.com/ ... which gets the job done.

  • +1 Ultraswim, my go to shampoo.

As to the rest of my skin, I rely on what my wife tells me ... she *likes* the smell of chlorine on me. I kinda enjoy it myself, especially when it's mixed with sweat when I run later in the day. But then, I've been smelling this way since 1960, so my olafactory sense might be compromised.

  • Before I offer my opinion, I have to disclose that I know the inventor, and swam with him in college. I am not, however, an investor, and have no financial interest in the product. So, take my opinion with as much salt as you like.

With that said, I think Swim Spray works much better than Ultraswim for one reason -- it works on your skin too. For me, it eliminates both the "chlorine coming out of your pores" and the itchy/dry skin common to pool swimming. So, I would recommend trying it.
  • Interesting. I've used Ultraswim for a few years and it's been fine for my hair. Doesn't do much for my skin, but it's shampoo so that's kind of a given.

I have never tried Swimspray before but certainly would consider checking it out. However, I did find it interesting that the top ranked review on it's Amazon page is someone stating how you can essentially make it yourself for much cheaper. Certainly not taking any sides in that issue, just found the discussion in the review comments interesting.
