InfinIT with EN

Is there a information about how to purchase InfinIT through EN (discount)? I saw the link to a webinar but didn't know if there was a discussion.

Thanks,

Tony

  • Thanks Jonathan!
  • Getting race day nutrition plan together for this weekend's race rehearsal. I listened to the Coaches webinar (like a good EN newbie!) and I'm planning to give this a try:

    - Concentrated Infinit in "feed bottle" - 200 calories an hour
    - Water in my aerodrink bottle to chase it with

The Infinit will give me about 300 mg of sodium per the 200 calories. Where do you guys the rest of the 500-1000 mg of sodium if you're relying on the liquid nutrition?

I'd add a Nuun to the water but not sure that's the right way to go if using it to chase the concentrated Infinit.

    Thanks!

  • @Andrea - Couple of questions for you:

    1. What is your race rehearsal distance? Half/Full/Oly, etc.

    2. What was your previous nutrition plan/strategy?

For the sodium I am big fan of Succeed's S-Caps (341mg of Sodium) http://www.succeedscaps.com/products/s_caps/

Everybody has different caloric needs and last year we had a bunch of folks rethink our nutrition strategy based on the Core Diet Webinars.

    http://members.endurancenation.us/Resources/Wiki/tabid/91/Default.aspx?topic=Race+Fueling+Webinar+(Jesse+Kropelnicki)

I went from using 350 cals/hour via Infinit to using 1.5 bottles of Perform (270 calories) plus another 200-250 calories per hour on the bike via powerbars or gels and found that my performance greatly improved. That is why I was asking the questions above about what you have been using as your nutrition plan.
  • My InfinIT blend for both bike and run has ~ 500mg of sodium and 250 cals per hour.
I add another 150 cals per hour with gels and bars (as per Jesse's suggestions and my rehearsals).
I weigh about 150 lbs (but should be 140 though)
  • This race rehearsal is for a Half. In the past I've used a combo of Heed and gels. I mostly do short-course racing so it's not really a big deal. I eat just enough to not bonk and do my best to gag the stuff down.

I'm worried about 2 things going into my first long course season - IM. Injuries and nutrition!

It's interesting that both of you are taking in more calories than the guidance I've read in the wiki and not just relying on the liquid. I know some of this comes with personal experience but I'd like to start with something that has a better chance of working than not.

  • Andrea,

I use only Infinit and water on the bike and run for a HIM.  I weight 162 lbs.   I use a 3 hour concentrated bottle of Infinit on the bike that has 850 calories (283/hr), 1272 mg sodium (424/hr).  I will drink the full bottle even thought my HIM bike time is usually about 2:40 so I'm actually getting a little bit more per hour than the data implies.  On a HIM run, my Infinit run formula has fewer calories (240/hr), and same level of sodium + caffiene.  I will also take 1 S-cap per 45 minutes on the run "for insurance" since I'm a salty sweater.  For both the bike and run, I take water at every aid station.

For an IM, I use the same formulas.  For the bike I start with a 3 hour bottle of infinit and pick up a 2nd bottle in special needs,  For an IM I've also learned I need to add some solid food since the day is so long.  I put a bagel in my bike special needs bag and munch tiny bites  the last 50 miles.  I also will take a banana from the course the last 20 miles of the bike to make sure I'm fueled up for the run.  I practice this Infinit, bagel, banana combo during race rehersals and have never had a GI problem in a race.  For the IM run, it is just Infinit, water and 1 S-cap per hour.

  • I suggest you may want to add more sodium to your Infinit formula.
