do aero bar pads wear out?

so now that I am on the bike a bit more, I am noticing that my forearms are sore at the contact point with the "pads". I put pads in quotes because after checking them out, thre aint much pad left in the pad.

Do they wear out or did I get soft or both?

  • After what you just said I would say yes..  Profile Designs and 3T Cycling offer replacement pads for their aero bars so I would just drop the cash and purchase a new set if they are available for your setup.

  • Sure, anything can wear out. Aeropads of different designs may wear out differently, but foam based pads can and will definitely lose density and become 'flat' over time.

I also find that most stock manufacturers pad's are crap to begin with, and recommend ceegees Cushy's replacement pads:

  • Yes. They also absorb sweat and get pretty grotty as a result. Change them as often as you do tires. Your shoulders and others' noses will thank you.
  • Sure they wear out, loose there padding and fly off. Go to the LBS and get a replacement set.
  • Yes, they do wear out.

Replace them with CeeGees and thank Trevor and I later.
  • They DEFINITELY show signs of wear in one way or another.

Thanks for the CeeGees tips Trevor and Bob
