Get a Retul fit
I know there have a been a couple of posts around this, but I'm adding my 2 cents into the mix. I had my fit this morning (Bell's Bikes in Philly)...and I have to say I'm pretty stoked. Steve the fitter was really cool...answered all my questions and gave me pros/cons of thoughts I had on my setup. I happened to send a picture of my bike ahead of time, and he started right off with wanting my seat way more forward. I had had the bike fit when I bought it, and had tinkered on m own since then. There were a couple of other changes as well in seat height and my extension placement.
For somebody who likes numbers and stats (come on i use WKO, TrainingPeaks and TrainerRoad) this service is right up my alley. Real time stats of every conceivable measurement were popping up as I spun on the trainer. And you get the report at the end.
So from a results perspective - I just finished the Saturday ride. I was able to go 3 gears lower, and generate the same watts, at a lower cadence. I was able to do my 85% time on my small ring...which I hadn't in the past. The trade off, for me at least, is a little more trouble getting the cadence up...and earlier onset of fatigue in quads - which are much more engaged now. I'm ok with that - lots of time for muscle adaptation to the new setup.
The plan is get some time in the fit and then go back and tweak. But I just wanted to throw my first impressions out there.
