Post workout recovery drink

It seems like one of the key elements of a post recovery drink is the right combination of protein and carbs. I've been trying out Optimum Nutrition's 2-1-1 recovery formula, but it can end up being pretty pricey with all the training that needs to get done. Protein seems to be the easy part for me to figure out, but how many carbs do you need? What works best? And, what's the best value? Is any old brand of Chocolate milk sufficient for post workouts?

  • I use the recovery drinks from PowerBar (chocolate) and Sponser (strawberry) ... I'd say both work for me but the Sponser-drink works a little better image
  • i stick to water, ironman perform (generally 250-300ml of each) and 250-500cc of chocolate milk , nonfat if I can get it or 1% (usually).
