  • Not signed up this year but I did it last year. 12 weeks after getting hit by a car and finishing IM Canada. It hurt like hell but the race was worth it. Best Marathon ever! Will definately do it again. Congrats on getting in, it sells out fast.
  • I am in. First time doing a marathon that does not come after a bike. I am excited to run in DC
  • I am in. It will be twenty years since i last ran Marine Corps.
Looking forward to the sights and inspiration that comes with thus race.
  • I am doing MCM. This will be my 4th MCM. Since i live here, it is the closest big marathon for me. I will be running with my sister to get her through her first marathon.
  • Last long run slated for this weekend. I am feeling tired and not too confident about this distance. anyone else getting hot sweats/cold feet?
I just want to run a steady, solid race. I am hoping that this weekend I have a solid, steady run. My long runs haven't been stellar and I need a good one to build the confidence.
Hope all are enjoying training and gearing up for this event.
  • I am doing the MCM this year. I have done many halfs but this is only my second marathon.

    Any EN get together planned?
  • A new EN'er here. I am running the MCM, 11 days - getting excited.
  • Good luck to everyone running the MCM, hope everyone makes their personal goals for the day. I'll be handing out water/gatorade at water point 7. I should be pretty easy to recognize as I'll be one of the hundreds of Marines with short hair in camoflague uniform supporting the day, so say hi when you run by. image
  • I hope the race goes off as scheduled. Word is without a gov resolution -- they may have to cancel. My wife Katy and I are running.
  • Let's hope this is not the case. Sad state of affairs when self-centered politicians influence such things. If they are seriously thinking of this they should make a decision soon so there is not another NYC debacle.
  • I did see on their Facebook yesterday that they will make a decision to cancel the race if necessary on the 19th. Hopefully the shutdown can be resolved by then. Many folks seem to be planning on running regardless, but that is not the same.
  • 4 Days to go! I'm getting excited as this is one of my favorite races.
I'm Running with my wife Katy and were going to try and stay together. Its going to be great.
  • Best of luck for weather out there Mark. Enjoy the day!

MCM is on my bucket list, so maybe after 1 more go at IMLP in 15...

  • Thanks Steve! Its going to be fun. I'm taking half ironman fitness + a few long runs to it (which concerns me a little). Fortunately, I'm running my wife's marathon pace instead of mine. Unfortunately, thats still relatively quick as she is shooting for 3:20-3:25. I know I can at least be the rabbit for 16-18 miles.
  • Ouch! Maybe you will be going to a very, very dark place somewhere around mile 20.....

Well, have as much fun running with your wife as you can in the earlier miles and don't let her go easy on your account.

Hope you can help her get her goal.
  • Hope everyone had a good day. I had a great weekend in DC with my wife and ran with her for a little over 20 miles before falling off and finishing 2 min behind her. She set a new PR with a 3:26:06 and I finished with a 3:28:12. It was great to run with her and Im very please with my race after training all summer for Augusta 70.3 a month ago, and squeezing recovery, 2 weeks of run training and taper in the last 4 weeks. Overall a great day. This is really one of the best marathons in the country -- The marines really put in on well.
