Stepping away for a bit...

I am very fortunate as I have a wonderful wife and daughter that are my first priority, a good job that is challenging and keeps me on my toes, and the opportunity to pretend I'm an elite athlete while still having my day job and a steady income and insurance.

A long time ago two different EN member told me I was my worst enemy as I also tried to do more or do everything.  They were both talking specifically about my training but in reality it is true for everything I do. Unfortunately there are just not enough hours in the day anymore so I'm stepping away from EN (and slowtwitch, etc) for a little while.

At the moment, I'll be racing at Racine, AG Nationals and Kona this year.  Spectating at Oceanside and possibly Wisconsin (unless I race Vegas).  Along with a bunch of other races, as usual I will always look for EN Kits on the race and when I can I yell or flash a gang sign.

I am continuing my relationship with Zoot for another year and already have discount codes for this year.  If you are interested in talking about or buying some Zoot gear, send me a PRIVATE message on facebook or twitter.  For my other sponsors discount codes are harder to come by, but I have a good bit of insider knowledge and connections to people with information so if you have questions let me know.

Thank you to everyone for all that you have taught me and all the awesome memories I have from EN.

  • Matt,

You knowledge and guidance will be missed.  It was great following your progressing on EN and with Dr Skiba (sp?).  Enjoy the race season.

I'll check in on your blog once in awhile, assuming you will be posting a bit there?  I'll have to make a point to log in to facebook and friend you.  I go about twice a year.

  • Likewise, always enjoy reading your input but how can anyone fault you for putting emphasis on your family.

I'm going to probably ride my bike up from the city to O'Side this weekend to wander around and cheer some. Maybe I'll run into you up there.

  • Keep the faith, and have a good life.
  • Matt, best of luck with life and leasure. I never got a chance to know you outside of your EN presence but I do know I looked forward to reading your comments and suggestions. Always had some bit on knowledge or tip that wasn't found elsewhere but very useful to me.
