Plan Selection Upon Return To EN
Hello crowd, just returned to EN after a year + away. It is great to be back. I did train and race entire time. These questions will go to coaches, I will fill out the season survey, I already engaged one our WSMs, Matt Aaronson in advice I am seeking. I thought I get your angles first before I proceed with coaches.
I see many developments with plans and have been reading about details in WIKI and elsewhere on the site.
1. Can somebody summarize some differences between these plans:
* New 2013 OS plans vs. SC plans that were developed couple of years ago. I will be racing SC races all the way through Sept.1.
*What is a GF= get faster plan?
2. My season starts on 05/18 with KS5150, than june has no races, July and August have one SC race each month, Sept HyVee 5150 hopefully, contemplating whether to than do Rev3 Branson 09/22 or back to Soma Half 10/22.
I did train all winter, ran a lot, bike kept in mx mode, no progress in FTP, flat, for obvious reasons. Hardly swam at all.
I have to increase FTP and VDOT primarily as a goal, if I can sneak in an SC race here and there, all of them are C races.
Branson vs. Soma purely depends what I can prepare myself better for, so training plan can dictate which race I enter.
3. Based on above, do I take OS plan or SC plan, plain and simple. Whichever I choose I will stay maximum time for get faster/ higher FTP reasons than drop into 12 weeks or less HIM plan. I will have to swim as it is racing season. OS has no swim, I can add my own on Mon and Fri, or SC with swim included..........or GF plans if I know what that is.
Matt says SC plan, also using 5MH for bike mid week. What do you say.
I am still after a sub 2:15 Olympic race, ugh....last year 2:16 on a rolling course, , maybe this year....
2011 Soma was ~ 4:40
2011 Branson ~5:05
Thank you

Simple answer is to just take the Season Planning Survey and I'll plan it all out for you
Dang, has it already been over a year?
clearly, in your year out of EN and back into the self training mode, you've forgotten that in here we don't have to think those things out anymore! give it a try
Thank you guys. Here we go, going to season survey. Thanks!
