Destination 70.3 late spring/ summer 2014?

I have the green light to take the family to a race/vacation next year. Has anyone raced st. Croix?
Any other suggestions would be great. I will have a 4yr old and an 8yr old w me.

Did it last year. Very, very poor country but we had a fabulous time. The only have the Jump Up festival 4 times a year, one of them the Friday night before the race. Look up my race report from 2012.

Hawaii 70.3. Lots of different places to stay. Race on middle part of iron bike course. Lots of stuff to do. Water. Mountains. Historical stuff.

Shave ice. Manju. Mochi. Kalua pig. Poi. Sushi. Papaya. Manapua. Haupia. ::::the local kine grinds.

Hawaii is awesome. I just spent 2 weeks there. Didn't do any racing...or even much training, frankly!!
The one think I'll say about 70.3 Hawaii is that I've heard the heat and wind make it a very, very tough race. Of course St Croix has "the beast" and a lot of wind and heat too.

yea. I would imagine that it would be a slow tough race. But it is likely the only way that I will ever get on that course...

I guess the other choice is I just drive up to the Lubbock 70.3 on the cheap and then take the fam on a real vacation after. Focus 100% on a race, then focus 100% on a vacation rather than 50/50.

Cheap? Do Wildflower! The race vibe is awesome. The location is central California and its a camping trip the first weekend in May!

Dino - It is also 4 tickets from san antonio to cali.
Lubbock is just me on southwest $200. Fam wouldnt event want to come...
