Entering new VDOT paces

I Have a new Vdot and don't know what to do with it.  I used to use the old data tool.  The wiki and "calculator" are not helpful.  I go to attack point calculate the vDOT and it gives me 4 zones: L/M = LP long pace Z1,  M = MP Z2,  T threshold=?HMPz3, and "I" interval = ??z4 or 5 and where is the fifth zone.  Then I understand to go to my profile and manually add the zones.  I'm just not sure which are zones3-5.

Thanks for the guidance

  • Robert:

    • Z3/Half Marathon Pace -- get your VDot and use the calculators to predict your half marathon time. Then calc your per mile pace from this half marathon time and this is your Z3/HMP.
    • Z4 is your T-Pace, as calc'ed by the VDot calculator
    • Z5 is I-Pace, as calc'ed by the VDot calculator.
  • Actually Robert, I suspect the EN VDOT calculator short circuits at your speed!!
  • I am mathematically challenged.

According to my 10km race today I have a new vdot. I have gone into the calculator and here is what comes out.

    LRP 10:11
    MP 8:46
    HMP
    TP 8:13
    IP 7:34

That calculator says I would do my half marathon at 1:50:52. If I take that half time it says my avg pace is going to be 8:46 right???????

For the life of me I can not remember how I worked this out before. It seems starting forward. Can someone help this mathematically challenged individual figure out her HMP?
  • Brenda, I am just going by memory but my half marathon PR is 1:50:xx and that was 8:27 pace.   Your numbers look almost identical to mine, so the HM pace is somewhere around 8:27.  Not that I think I could actually race a HM at that pace:-)

  • xcellent. Thank you Carol. That is very helpful. Sounds good.
  • Hey Brenda,

I did this is the past also and it calculated it for me once I put in my HM time.  It's not doing that this time...god...time to get out the calculator!
