Do you want to do IMUSA 2013 but need a slot?
I am on the Board of a Charity that many people in da Haus are familiar with and have been very supportive of. ReserveAid is a 501(c)3 Organization that raises money to help Military folks (primarily Reservists and National Guard) who are suffering financial hardships from their recent or current Military Service. You can read more about us here: http://reserveaid.org/
3 yrs ago, Jess and I started "Team ReserveAid" and decided to tackle our first Ironman to raise money for our cause. This is why I originally found EN myself. As of IMFL 2012, we have had 36 Ironman Finishers and have raised over $500,000 for ReserveAid. Many Team ReserveAid members were or are currently members of EN as well.
For Ironman Lake Placid this yr, we will have 21 people racing in our Team ReserveAid kits. Of these 21, ten are using charity slots that ReserveAid purchased before registration opened for this now sold-out race. Unfortunately, one of the people using a charity slot had to back out so I now have an extra one. If you know anybody who would like to do the race, please send me a PM or post in this forum. The slot cost ReserveAid just under $1,500 (yes, they jam the charities with ~2x the normal cost). So whoever uses our slot would be obligated to raise a minimum if $1,500 plus a best efforts attempt to raise even more because that amount will simply cover our sunk cost. These would all be tax deductible donations, so the "tax-adjusted" cost if you simply wrote a check wouldn't be all that much more than if you had signed up 8 months ago.
I'd be happy to answer any questions you may have about our charity or about the entry slot.

Take a few minutes to watch the video and please don't hesitate to reach out to the Withrow's or any other Team RA member / EN ninja if you have questions.
