The GXP Quarq WILL work with the P2. Regardless of what BB or crank is on your bike. If you have a SRAM crank, you're already set. If you have Shimano or FSA, all you'll need to get is a new GXP Bottom Bracket and screw it into your frame. You can generally find these for $20-30 on eBay...
John, Yes, this is true but it also depends on how much more money you want to spend if you want to use your power crank with more than one bike. In my case I have a Trek Madone 4.5 with a Shimano BB and a P2 with the FSA MegaExo BB-8000/6000 and FSA Gossamer crank. The Gossammer crank doesn't work on a Shimno BB as I asked FSA who said it would nicely and permenently lock up if I did that. Plus, I didn't go with Quarq specifically because I would have had to buy a second additional BB and crank for the Madone to get them cross compatible on the GXP standard and which adds up to two crank purchases instead of one and I would end up with two cranks in the closet not being used.
So instead I bought the SRM FSA Gossammer Power Crank which matches the crank and BB on my P2, plus it comes with a BB-8000/6000. Swap only the BB out on the Madone and presto, I automatically have two bikes with matching BB. A lot less thinking and I know that they match 100% with absolutely zero guessing if it will lock up on me. No additional work or purchases. I accept that I will need to ship out the SRM to get the battery replaced now and then but that doesn't bother me because I know it will get checked and recalibrated when that happens each time. No headaches or worrying.
@Brad- sorry for the thread drift. @Darren- Unless you got a REALLY good deal, it is unlikely that is the cheapest option. A great option, but not the cheapest. FSA wireless SRMs almost never trade on eBay. GXP Quarqs trade everyday on eBay for around $1,100-1,200. And you can get a brand new Quarq RIKEN for $1,399. A GXP BB cost about $20 or so and you'd be buying 2 instead of just 1. And an extra SRAM Rival crank for your other bike costs about $100. On top of that you should be able to get at least $50-75 each, for selling both of your old cranks. So all in, you're talking $1,100-$1,400 total with the Quarq depending on whether you buy on eBay or buy new.
John, I actually did get it on eBay and got a bit of a deal on it. I wouldn't say I got a super great deal but it was cheaper than other places I had seen. plus the headache of having to figure out what BBs go with which cranks is a moot point because they match. Whatever more I paid I know I got a good product and I won't have any compatibility issues.
@Brad-- I know a couple of people who people who have bought them, but it's literally in the past month since they just came out. Quarq makes a great product. A few people have issues with their older models, but I would personally chalk that up to the fact that it's an electronic products with lots of temperature and pressure sensitive parts and you may have issues with any power meter. What I do know for fact is how good their customer service is and that they stand behind there products if or when there is ever an issue. My opinion is that the RIKEN is great bang for your buck. The Elsa is a couple hundred bucks more, and you get Left/Right readouts from that one. But I can't imagine how L/R balance would be all that useful, but it is the new fad in powermeters.
The best price I have found on them is here: http://bicycledoctorusa.com/ The website is super sketchy, but you basically send them an email and ask for pricing on the Quarq and they will send you a whole email sheet with pricing, and you can call them to complete the order. I know several people who have bought from them and have been happy.

My 2012 P2 has a FSA MegaExo BB-8000/6000 bottom bracket and FSA Gossamer crank.

@JW - Riken is a possible option for me on the new side. Have you heard good things?
