Cassette Gearing?

I have a SRAM PG-1050 11-26 on my bike currently, and I decided to get a 2nd cassette so that I will not have to swap out my cassette between the wheelsets.

I split my time between Michigan and Florida - so I ride some really flat areas, and some pretty hilly ones. I was wondering if I should just get another 11-26, or if since I am buying a second cassette anyhow - should I look at getting one in a different config?

I would think that in Florida, an 11-23 would be the right cassette or maybe a 12-25. Are you running a Compact Crank (50/34)? I have a whole bunch or cassettes, but only ever seem to use my 11-27 or my 11-28. I always think that Mo Gears is Mo Better, and I don't mind Cadence gaps. With that said, I live in NJ and usually ride in NJ or PA where it is reasonably hilly. For IMFL last yr I used an 11-21 and was fine with that and my compact.

I have a 50/34 crank. Well I had a 50/34.... I assume that I still do, as I got a Quarq power meter installed and that replaced my crank. Let me call my LBS and see what length it was...

It depends on which race you are training for. If its a hilly course go bigger, flat course go smaller.

Since you have a 26-11 already I'd go with a 23-12 for your FL riding.

Is the 26-11 OK for the hills of Wisconsin?

I ride compact front and 26-11 on that course. 5:10 bike split. I'd recommend 28-12, regardless of what gearing you're riding on the front.
