Home October '09 OutSeason

This is it!

Hi October OS peeps!

We have reached the last week of our OS!  20 weeks was a long time, but it kind of flew by.  I can honestly say I have never, ever worked so hard between October and February, but I was never bored, either.  I feel fit and ready to slot myself into a half IM training plan.

What is next on everyone's schedule?  I'll be jumping into week 5 of the half IM plan, in order to prepare for the Lonestar 70.3 in late April.  After that I have a nice few "basic months" until I start race prep for IM Florida in August.

It's been a real pleasure getting to "know" all of you, and I wish you all the best of luck in your 2010 racing season!

  • All,

I agree it has been a pleasure sharing the fun and pain of the last 20 weeks. I too am feeling quite ready to get to the step. I am trying to decide whether to jump into the Intermediate HIM plan or the Beg. IM plan. I had the opportunity to drive the bike route of the American Zofingen this weekend, and am questioning what the hell I got myself into. I am thinking the additional time on the IM plan may be beneficial. I definitely need to find a new place to train. These flat roads of central Jersey are just not going to cut it.

Best of luck to everyone! Hope to see a few of you on the road sometime.....
  • Its been fun - I am a little over 5 weeks out from Cali HIM - so I have been doing a lot of HIM workouts.  No problem with the volume with the HIM plan coming from the outseason.  Did my first 2 hour run last Wednesday (felt great for first 90 minutes but got tired but maintained my MP for 3 miles at the end).

  •  You've all worked your a$$es off; congratulations. Enjoy the fruits of all your hard labors. You lead the way.

  • I still can't believe it's been 5 months...but all this work is paying off for me, my running is just about back to where it was before I took my 2 year break from triathlon...I think my bike fitness is there too, but I've been struggling with my bike mojo lately, so it's hard to tell..ultimately I feel like I'm in great shape for this time of the year..thanks to all my fellow October OS peeps!

Next on tap for me after the much anticipated transition week is 11 weeks of intermediate HIM training for IM 70.3 Florida in May, then it's a block of general prep until I start the real training in August for IM FL...see you there, Kristen!  And I'm glad to hear the volume transition is smooth, Thomas...tho I have to say I'm looking forward to a little volume, my legs seem to be itching to go far!

  • Like bill said, you guys are the crash test dummies heading out there. Go team pumpkin, you guys rock!!!!
  • Congrats teammates!! You all are amazing! It really is hard to believe that 20 weeks is done already...sheesh.
