2013 Ironman Training Camps
Team,
Patrick and I are conducting 3+ day training camps this year on the Ironman Lake Placid, Wisconsin, and Lake Tahoe courses. Our intent with these camps is to share our race execution experience with you and show you how to race every inch of these courses. We've each done too many camps on the LP and WI courses to count but over 600 athlete have attended our IMWI and IMLP camps since 2010. Lake Tahoe is a new race and new camp for us this year but I have a lot of experience with training very aggressively at altitude.
ALL TeamEN members are welcome to attend, regardless of whether or not you are actually racing these events or plan/don't plan to race them in the future. Over the years these camps have become regional events, with EN athletes in the Midwest, Northeast, and now the Best Coast gathering together to meet and train with their teammates while learning more about race execution.
The general schedule of these camps is:
- Thursday: campers arrive PM, check-in, etc. 5:3-7p: Four Keys of Ironman Execution, drilled down to the details of how to execute the Four Keys on this specific course.
- Friday: Race Rehearsal #1, generally a 100-112 mile bike followed by a ~45' run. This is your opportunity to apply the execution tips you learned on Thursday to the course. PM discussion: RR debrief, lessons learned, "Advanced" Ironman execution topics: bike fit, setup, gearing, nutrition and more.
- Saturday: Race Rehearsal #2 -- repeat of Friday or a bit less, depending on how you feel. PM discussion: more RR debrief, more discussion of Friday topics, discussion of Ironman training for age group athletes. Camp cocktail hour and dinner.
- Sunday: walk through of the transition area, race venue, then long run (10-13 miles) on the run course. Camp ends.

Comments
Bob, IMWI is the ULTIMATE course on which to learn and practice how to ride steady on a very hilly course. Would be an excellent learning opportunity for you.
