Syracuse!

Anyone else doing IM 70.3 Syracuse? I am doing it for the first time, a friend talked me into it and I signed up having no idea what the course is like. Too be honest, i still have no idea! Also never been in Syracuse, is there anything fun to do, i.e. should i take the family along? We will be driving from Cleveland.

    I grew up in the 'Cuse area. Parents still live there. I did the race in 2010 and 2012.

    Great! Well let me ask about the run course first, i heard it has been different every year. Has this year's course been done before, is it the same as last year? Is it a tough course?

    And is it worth it bringing the family (wife and 3y old son)?

    There is a playground area near the beach and ice cream, sno-cones and all that.  Wife and kid can stay somewhat occupied.

    Ben, so far the 2013 run course is the same as last year.  It was a brutal run course.  I was in a Vegas qualifying position off the bike and the run ate my up and spit me out.

    There's literally no flat section.  The only "fast" parts of the run course is the 1/4 mile or so before the monster hill and the last 1/2 mile of each loop.

    Here is the profile per my Garmin:

    Mostly a rolling run with a big ass hill in the middle of each loop.  Running down the hill is no picnic either.
