Recovery for run intervals

I'm sorry I can't seem to find this anywhere, and sorry if I'm asking the question in the wrong place (newbie on trial period).  I have gone through the Quick Start Guide again, but can't find any reference.  For the run recovery on the run sessions (eg Z4), are these meant to be a walk, slow jog or stop completely?  I'm on the OS plan.

  • Judy, welcome to your trial. Hope you can make a informed decision on if the Haus is a good fit for you. image

To your question, if you ask 3 different members, you'll probably get 3 different answers to this question. For me, I typically slow jog (i.e. slower than my assigned EP) without worrying about pace during my rest intervals. Then I slowly start to ramp up the effort again. In my head, I want to be able to absolutely crush the work interval, sticking right on the assigned pace. So I run as slow as needed during recovery so that I can make all my intervals during work. Full disclosure, in the summer (hot), I even walk a portion of my rest intervals. So to sum up, I would recommend recovery at the fastest pace that allows you to hit your assigned pace/effort/zone during the work intervals.

    Good luck!
  • I walk until HR gets to zone one, then get slow enough to keep HR there. Roy's stated priciple well ... Whatever pacevrequired to do all intervals at prescribed pace/effort level.
