This is what a dead powermeter battery looks like...

I think I will start changing my Quarq battery every time I replace my chain....It's a bummer that you don't really know when the battery will fail, until it fails.  All of the spikes at the beginning are the power intermittently being captured, and then lost.  Oddly enough, I have no idea why it seemed to work the second half of the ride.

  • make sure the battery case contacts are contacting.
  • While riding the other nite a message popped up on my 800 ...."powertap battery low" .....I have the PT G3 now....I never saw the message from my old PT (i ran out of battery once in the pain cave)
  • My PT used to quit once in a while and give false low battery errors. Now I switch the battery before all races when I install the disc cover....
  • Agree, they should add a battery level command to the ANT+ protocol so there is a way to check the level from a head unit.

Not a whole lot of people do, but if you have the Wahoo ANT+ key for your iphone and the Qalvin app you can check the battery level that way. Reminds me that I really should do that before my next race.
  • Wahoo ANT+ key is an interesting option. Although for the $60 I could get 10 batteries and just replace every year and still save money. I'll probably just change every year with my chain in the future, or as dino suggested before a big race, sort of like changing the batteries in smoke detectors... On the bright side, at least it occurred while I was training and in a non critical situation.
  • Be sure to test the battery race week before you get out of T1.

  • x2 on what Robin said on the battery case contacts.

I replaced my initial 2 year old battery couple months back. On weekend long ride I got a msg on 310XT at start "Powermeter battery low". Had dropouts all ride - replaced it in the afternoon. Next day ride had dropouts again - stopped and bent out the battery case contacts, magic - all fixed. Might have thrown away a perfectly good battery yesterday though - doh!
  • Question, I have the Garmin 910XT with a power Hub power meter, my wattage numbers are super low today, battery ??
