Bike FTP Intervals for the week of April 29

Really interested to hear how everyone is doing on their outdoor bike intervals, or are you doing them on the trainer?????

  • Trying to get all the weeks bike work done the first two days cause the weather here in Iowa is rain, cold, and a chance of snow starting late Tuesday throughout most of the weekend. Possible a window Saturday morning to get the 2.5 hour bike in but it will be 30 degrees. I will ride in that vs going back to the trainer any day.

So I have knocked out Tuesdays and Thursdays wko and they have been good.
  • I did my first FTP intervals outside today. I don't have a powermeter yet (just ordered one!) so did it all based on RPE. Way more fun than the trainer, but hard to tell if I was pushing too hard or not hard enough. I definitely like having target numbers to hit, so I'm psyched to get the powermeter.
  • outside as much as possible....last nite was supposed to be bike test (IMLP prep)....life got in the way = limited time...my outside test course have to drive 20 min...instead i went out for some Z5 hill climbs in the hood...2 climbs....1st = 13 min @1.19 (280w).....2nd = 10 min @ 1.20 (281).....on my roadie....thinking my FTP outside>inside
  • Got in 45' on the trainer this morning with only 15' at FTP and another 15' @.85.  I did not have the mojo this morning and took it a little easier hopefully to be more rested for my first long run.

  • Got my FTP intervals done outdoors last night. Clear and dry but a little cool (12c) out here on vancouver island. My plan called for 40' ftp as 8-12-20. I am preparing for very hilly race in France, so after 15' z4 TT style on flat got the next 25' in doing 3x8' hill repeats in z4+. Then topped it off with 4x30sec on/off vo2 with focus on high cadence to flush legs. All good.
