PT cadence/speed sensor.

Hi folks - upgrading my wired PT to wireless & a Joule from Rich - do I need the seperate cadence sensor or will the integral hub cadence/speed sensor be good enough? Rather not have the extra clutter and not too fussed on cadence numbers now (left that focus with MTB training).

Thanks,

Dave

  • When I switched to wireless I just used the Hub for cadence and didn't bother getting a new sensor. My experience has been that whatever algorithm they are using to determine cadence based on the Hub works pretty good. Less moving parts- I like that!
  • David, I also have a wired PT.

Can you share with me exactly what you're purchasing so that I might consider the same upgrade?  Does the Joule provide realtime TSS as well?

    Thanks,

  • @Nemo - yep, considering I'm losing all those wires & zip ties! :-)

@Shaughn - I currently have a wired PT SL laced into a DT rim - everything is great but I have the power on 2 bikes issue now I've moved to triathlon (last season I raced MTB XC only & didnt race with pwr, just trained with it on the road bike). I picked up a Zipp 808 rear wheel from a buddy so looking to stick one hub in there and a second wireless hub into a mavic openpro wheel. The Joule deal via Rich wasn't a great deal more expensive than the electronic kit (cpu etc) that I'd need for the wireless hubs and yes, being a techy/pwr junkie it seemed a good idea to be able to see IF/TSS.
If I didn't have the Zipp rear, I'd just probably go the OpenPro with wheelcover and just the one wireless hub although here in the UK, the winters are very wet and roads messy so a training wheel soon gets trashed (all that 'belgian toothpaste' !)
