Last week on GF plan and Olympic race on Sunday

Hey Coach P,

Next week will be the 8th week in GF plan and I have my first warm up/Olympic race next Sunday (5/12).  Should I still do the V02 tests and FTP tests during the week?  I would rather wait till after the race as I fall back into the GF plan for 5 more weeks and then start my HIM for Luxembourg in September.   I also had to fore go today's big bike workout due to family obligation.  So big bike workout will be tomorrow and I will do the scheduled Sunday's run on Monday.  I have been feeling a bit tired although I am putting in great work and would like to put the tests off and prep for my race--more openwater swimming practice, recon bike course, and practice transition stuff.  I am expecting a bump in my FTP ;-) and VDOT.

  • @Tony, absolutely....in some ways, the race is just as important as those tests. I'd keep it light this week with "intervals" as a few 2-3 minute efforts with 150% to 200% rest (2' of work = 4' of rest)...then rip it up!
