Computrainer error message=No Communication, HELP!

Recently I downloaded Velotron 2008 (not sure if the problem is related ) ever since I keep getting the message no communication (Velotron CS) everything looks normal except for this message. I checked and double checked all that I thought could be a communication problem, but no luck...  I need to do my bike test indoors and I am stuck until my CT issue is fixed. Any  idea what could be malfunctioning. Thank you

  • Did you check com ports?? Is CT showing up on one of them?
  • @myrna do you have a Power meter too or is the CT the only thing you use right now for power measuring??
  • I ran into a similar problem after installing Windows updates, not the Velotron software. I reinstalled the driver for my usb to serial adapter and that fixed it.

  • Thank you all.
    - I checked the com ports and alternated between two existing one.
    - I have bought a Powertap fairly recently, I am not very familiar using it yet and it is having problems reading cadence although I bought a separate cadence sensor. For now, I am in the communication with Saris to fix the problem.
    - It will be more intuitive for me to do the test on the CT since I have extensively used it in the past.
    - I will try reinstalling the driver hopefully this might work.. Thank you image
  • I am getting this same no communication message. Can anyone instruct me on how to reinstall the driver from the usb to serial adapter?
I hope that is the fix.
    thank you
  • In the past I have used a program called "Driver Detective" that scopes out all your drivers and makes sure they are the latest versions. Running that fixed my computrainer issues immediately once I downloaded the suggested updates.

On the power tap bit, you are probably better without the extra cadence sensor. The power tap really gets confused if there are extra magnets whirling about that it doesn't know what to do with. Once I took off my cadence magnets my PT became problem free (you still get cadence because the PT calculates your cadence based on your power cycle so the extra sensor isn't necessary anyways).
  • Hi Kevin,
thanks for the info. I checked out that program and it cost around $80. Is there a cheaper way? Do you think computrainer has the latest driver? I will check that website.
    Thks
