Long Bike Thread for week of May 6, 2013

Can`t believe some of our team is still dealing with snow. Lets all send our warming thoughts there way so they can ride outside with us

NOTE: If you want to post your workouts directly to your Race Group instead of the whole Team (i.e., tell other IMTX folks about your ride specifically OR to keep track of your weekly training to your "A" race), please head over to the Race Forums here and post in your official group.

  • Bit of the stomach flu this week so the training has been somewhat tapered and no runs as of today still.....will run 2x tomorrow though.

However I did get out Monday and today on the bike. I felt really good on the bike and even had a head wind the last 25 miles. Hit the FTPs (40 min) and 12x 30 sec to 1 min VO max today. BOOM

  • I have a bad travel week this week, and my "long" ride had to be Tuesday.

Short version is that I ended up doing a HIM race rehearsal ride. 15 min warmup and then 210 W with no breaks for the duration of the ride. This was a bit of an accomplishment since 210 is 85% of FTP.

I did the 56 miles in 2:38. That's the fastest I've ever done this route...probably by 10 minutes, but I am not certain of that. Most of the time it's 2:5X. So that was pretty exciting. Weather was good. I'm sure that helped, although it made the 4 bike bottles i carried just barely enough! It's surprisingly hilly out here. Nothing big, but lots of little ups and downs. garmin's web site says 2600 feet of clime and loss even with the elevation correction. That ssems like a lot, but it's not trivial.

    Avg Power: 205 W
    Max Power: 351 W
    Max Avg Power (20 min): 218 W
    Normalized Power (NP): 211 W
    Intensity Factor (IF): 0.849
    Training Stress Score (TSS): 190.3
