Making the best of poor circumstances

Just did wildflower 1/2. Was hampered by bronchitis. Just feeling strong and no more coughing and got pneumonia. Wiped out for 2 weeks then able to do light stuff the past two weeks, but now its been since easter that I had done a long run. Super hot Friday and was very short of breath just walking up and down to registration. Relying heavily on my inhaler. So, I did the 2nd smartest thing (first being not to race) amd rode with my heart rate monitor and kept to zone 2, then on the run zone 1+ and walked all up hills. I was able to finish, actually had fun because I wasn't racing and suffering. Finished sayong I am going back next year to podium, which should be a realistic plan with EN assist.

  • Glad you were able to make lemonade out of the lemons you had at hand on race day...

What is the "Death Ride" in your signature line? Sounds like fun...
  • Death ride is 130 miles near Tahoe with around 17000 feet of climbing. Temperature around 100.
