When to "Suck it Up" and When to Quit...
Had a rough few workouts as a result of toasted legs post-10k bike TT on Wed. and it got me thinking...When do you"Suck it Up" and when do you bail on a WKO?
I'm on the SC plan prepping for Rev3 Quassy Oly. Did some shuffling of WKOs this week as a result of the TT Wed. so I did Fri. swim and Wed. run on Fri. Run intervals were tough but I did it on Fri. Then Sat. I did a 27mi group ride, drove home and got ready to run. (Plan was 20mins at Z3 and Z4 pace) I ran around the 'hood as it is hilly, like Quassy. I couldn't get to even Z1 pace and really struggled. (ie walking up hills, etc) I toughed it out, but many times asked myself "is it worth it?" Are these the workouts that make you stronger, even though you're not hitting the paces, or are you not getting any training effect going that slow? I was able to hit the paces for Sunday run but no extra, just did the MS.
I'm usually very "by-the-book" and stick with the plan but just curious. I also hate skipping runs since it is my weakest discpline but is walk/running around the 'hood not far from the couch?
