Tri-Sheila's personal macro thread -

Ok Coach - I'm taking your lead and creating a macro thread like you would do.

My race schedule has changed. What do I do to get my plan adjusted?

Comments

  • Yes, please submit another race survey and I'll get that done for you.
  • Coach Rich or Patrick -  I've missed almost 10 days of training due to family graduations and vacation. I got a few runs in and one OWS in Costa Rica - but that's it!  I'm suppose to be on week #7 of IM Lake Tahoe. I missed the testing of week 5.

    1. Should I ease into the training schedule this week and go by my recovery?

    2. Should I get some benchmark tests this week on the bike/run? I'm training with power.

PS - the OWS was in 80 degree water - so worth it!

  • 1. Follow the plan as is but be smart and be prepared to turn things down as you feel you should. No need for you to retest power on the bike. In my experience things will feel off for ~2-3wks but your power and training zones will come back very quickly.
  • Thanks Rich - I know that consistency is King!
  • Hi Coach - I have a Big Day Protocol this weekend. The following Sunday I am doing  a 'B' race, the Donner Lake Half Iron. I read in the Wiki how to incorporate a race into my plan.

My question is: should I cut back on my Big Day Protocol this weekend? If I focus on keeping intensity down it could probably work. What da ya think?

    thank you.

  • No, I recommend you do the Big Day as scheduled this weekend and then figure out if you need to rest harder on the backend, the week of the race, as a function of how you feel.
  • OK - thanks for the quick reply.

Donner Half is a new race so not sure what to expect. It's a beautiful venue.

  • See Trevor's June Lake Half RR in the RR forum, for a heads up on what to expect for a half Ironman. Pretty big (~1.5-2k?) difference between JL and DL, I think though? Actually, I'm thinking Truckee vs Donner Lake.
  • Donner Lake is 5900 and we climb the Summit to 7200. Big descent with sweeping  S's .
  • Hi Coach

I am in week 17 for IMLT. Got some big time challenges. I have to be out of town Friday afternoon to Saturday night. (daughter doing her first endurance HORSE ride)

    This week calls for:

Thursday - long run - can't do on bc of work and kid stuff.

Friday - long swim - could do long run instead in early morning

    Saturday - 4.5 hour ride - can't do

    Sunday - 3.5 hour ride

    Monday - swim and run.

Should I move the 4.5 hour ride to Sunday and the 3.5 hour ride to Monday? I'll figure out how to fit in the missed swims? I really need to get that long run in and early Friday looks like the only day.

    Thanks !!
