Tape for Valve Hole Cut-Out on Disc Wheel?

Any specific suggestions? Clearly I am over thinking this, and of course must be black to match the wheel...

I forgot to tape mine tonight - first time using the cover on a 10m TT. That must have cost me some time

Thanks guys this is all very helpful. I went hunting for some wider electrical tape and found this:

A variety of different widths are available, now I just need to measure the width of the valve cut out and pick a tape just a little bit wider.

I just use clear packing tape.

If it weren't for black electrical tape, my disc cover would just fall apart... Usually never cover the hole (since the sticker they include was basically useless). Have to try one of the tape solutions. Thanks!

I too read that clear packing tape was a good solution.

I need to mess with the cover some more as mine seems to keep a "hump" in it on the non-drive side. Note sure if taping it with electrical tape will smooth it out or not...

It is mated to a SRAM 90 FWIW.

Hump in non-drive side is all about how you're putting it on. get all the nuts loosely threaded, and then find the spot where the cover is centered over the hub on both sides. If the nuts have a little slack in them, they'll find their level, but might need a little help by spinning it. The covers are very finicky, and easy to get put on in a way that causes the hump to occur.

It was my first time running it last night (though I had installed it for fun once before just to get a feeling). Some more time and patience and I should hopefully get it sorted.

I was also considering that when using a cover with a deeper rim the cone effect on the non-drive side is more dramatic?!? (i.e., smaller cover -- shorter/steeper).

Now back to the original topic -- taping the valve hole...

X2 on the clear packing tape. Works great and probably the lowest unit cost versus all other options.
