Guidance on what to include in race report?

Hey Team, I'm looking for guidance on what to include in my first race report inside EN.

I recently completed my first major race as an EN member, a short course duathlon. I have bunch of random thoughts in my head and race data to work with. Wondering if there is a general template that the coaches like us to follow or if there is a step-by-step process for debriefing after a race?

  • The important thing is that you get all your thoughts/observations/questions/concerns out. The 'How' you do this is not really important. If you look at recent reports in the Race Report Forum, you'll see everything from short to the point stuff to long, drawn out narratives. The most important thing is for you to express/record what you find important and relevant in whatever format you can.

Congrats on your first race in the Haus. May there be many others.
  • There is no template, but there seem to be several genres people adopt:

    * Narrative -make it a story, funny, sad, gripping suspense, happy outcome, etc
    * Travelogue - things someone might want to know about the area and the venue, to help them decide whether to do that race ne t year, or what side trips, restaurants, etc might be good.
    * the data geek - Include all your lap splits, power numbers, IF, VI, pace and HR per mile on the run, etc.
    * Self improvement - what did you learn in this race to help you, or to avoid, in your next one?

Really, the templates are as varied as the personalities on this team ... Do what works for you.
  • Pictures, lots and lots of pictures .

And if you have questions or want feedback, ask specific questions and be sure to make then visible via bullets, etc.

  • He is in luck Coach R. I was there and took lots of pics.
  • Great stuff. Thanks all.
