Who's In for IMTX 2014?
Hi folks, as most of you know already these are the races we're targeting for 2014: IMTX, IMMT, IMWI
Texas is first up (May 18) and, the way these things fill up we thought we would put it on your radar now, if it is not already there.
Sign up for IMTX 2014 should be Sunday (May 19th) at 12noon Texas time (I can not find anything online to confirm this, but my Ironman hubby tells me this is usually the case)
The IMTX page describes the race as:
An early season event, that gives athletes a chance to head south to warmer water.
Just 27 miles north of Houston, The Woodlands is one of America’s first “master planned” communities, making it the perfect venue for a race of this magnitude. The Woodlands is close to two major airports, numerous parks, a bustling downtown, and a luxurious resort for athletes and their families to enjoy. With plenty of amenities within walking distance, this pedestrian-friendly community makes it easy for visitors to find their way around town during race week.
Athletes will begin with a 2.4-mile swim in Lake Woodlands. The 112-mile bike course takes participants west through the scenic, rolling farmland of east Texas. The day ends with a 26.2-mile run taking place entirely within The Woodlands and concluding with a spectacular finish on Waterway Ave.
There are 50 qualifying slots for the IRONMAN World Championship in Kailua-Kona, HI.
If you are new to Ironman, here are some TIPS for signing up on line (provided by hubby again)
· Create a VALID Active.com account
· Fill in only asterix info to make the process quicker
· Have a backup computer should yours freeze or fail
· Make sure your CC is not expired
· Note when registration window opens up. If you are not available during that time (some of us do work on weekends), try to find someone who can sign up for you, but make sure they have your Active.com account info and CC number/expiry date etc...
To keep yourself in the loop, we suggest you sign up for the IMTX facebook group

If there is anything I missed, please chime in. We want to have a strong presence at IMTX next year!
