Helen King's Micro thread

Hi Patrick,

I need some help working out a schedule for the start of June. A race is IM Austria on 30 June but I need to be in the US for work 30 May to 7 June. Current plan:

Thursday 30 May Fly to US – arrive 13.25

Friday/Saturday/Sunday – Holiday/Free days

Monday 3 – Friday 7 June – Meetings/Conferences

Friday Fly to UK landing 14:05 Saturday

I won’t have access to a bike and I'm going to be pretty full on with meetings during the day/evening and travelling.

I would quite like to do this - ALCATRAZ SWIM - WATER WORLD SWIM - JUNE 1st 7:00 A.M. – just because it would be a cool thing to do but it’s not essential and I haven’t booked a place.

Note - I am pretty flexible with my time and with the long nights I can do 4 hour rides after work before/after US trip.

Thanks – Helen

  • @Helen, I think the swim is a great idea. I say that you plan on biking you Sat ride on the Wednesday before you leave. So that monday is swim/run. Tuesday is bike / run (from Wed), then Wed is now your Sat Ride. After your Sat swim, do a long run on Sunday to get that done. Other than that do what you can to eat right and remember that even 15 minutes of activity can help you stay loose…then when you get back on saturday, you might to an easy light spin on Sunday to get loose (not required) but regardless Monday is back on plan!
  • Hi Patrick, Thanks for advice. Swim was ok but had to be 'repositioned' by boat  so I was a bit disappointed but it was still a pretty neat thing to try to do. Weather was good at the weekend so I hired a Blazing Saddles bike and took it across the Golden Gate Bridge and up Mount Tam - not really training but a lot of fun. Helen
