Pain in the Iliac Crest
Figured only the docs would respond to this topic. Obviously, I did a little anatomy research. I have pain in the area of my hip at the top of my iliac crest after running- typically the next day. It is not debilitating but is unusual. Not sore to the touch, just an acute muscle soreness when I walk. Especially noticeable when I stand up after sitting for a while. Anyone have any idea what this could be? Thanks
John

where specifically are we talking about on that iliac crest- front of the hip, side, or low back???
on the side- right at the top of the crest. Only on the left side.
Hey John, sounds like it could be either your TFL or medial glute muscles. Both of those run from the iliac crest down to hip bone.
What kind of stuff have you been doing for it so far? ice, IB, stretching, etc. Do you have a foam roller or tennis ball at home??
Hopefully no numbness, pins/needles, burning pain, electrical symptomes down leg....esp. ant. thigh
If YES...could be meralgia paresthetica (nerve irrit. at iliac crest)
Just making sure!
Leigh- This may sound bad but I have been doing nothing to specifically treat this. I do stretch a lot after running and riding but I wouldn't know how to stretch for that area specifically. No ice or rest or anything like that. Any suggestions?
Mike - No pins and needles or numbness. Just some pain. Not too bad but gets my attention.
Thanks,
John
