Post IM Reflections from a Tri- Newbie

Post reflections/ lessons from my first IM race

1. Focus on solution not problem. Whether its a mechanical or physical problem work on solving it. Forget all the other stuff because it doesn't matter.
2. Don't try to make up for lost time. Stay within your plan.
3. The run isn't 26.2 miles but rather a series of 1 mile repeats followed by a rest break

For the first timer, hearing your name called out at the finish, incredible!!!!!

  • Congratulations, John!  Very good reminders.  I followed your your race online yesterday and i look forward to reading your race report for any additional pointers.  In 5 weeks CDA will be my first IM!

  • Way to go Ironman! Its been fun to watch you go through the process, and I'm really glad you were able to 'enjoy' it. I think you had tremendous results  for your first IM, there is a lot of moving parts to keep together, and you did it very well! It gets easier to focus on the important stuff the next time round. Great lessons learned! Cant wait to read the report.

  • You learn quickly! Now be like an elephant, and never forget, Despite knowing (a lot) better, I STILL made mistake # 2 in my IM #15 or so.
  • Great way to distill it to 3 simple points!
