  • Dave Halligan, race day age 41, Beverly, MA

Goals for the race are to show up fit and see what the day brings.

2008 was the first time I did an IM and it was at Lake Placid.  It was also the first time I ran a marathon.  I'm Returning to Lake Placid in 2010 and it will be my second time around for the IM distance as well as my second time running the marathon distance.

    Dave

  • Cary Blanco, Race Day age 44 (Racing 45-49), Atlantic Beach, NY

Goals: Enjoy the Day, no running "issues", finish in under 13 hours with a smile on my face

Resume: This will be my first Ironman

    Previous Experience: 3 Sprints, 2 Olys, 2 Half-Ironmans, 1 Marathon

  • Mike Graffeo, age 32, Millbury MA

Goals: finish smiling, run the marathon.  I've only run two open marathons in the past, one much less fit and one where I went too aggressively out the gates, and walked a big chunck of the last 8 miles (but still PR'ed).  I'd like to have a marathon PR in this race.

Resume: this is my first IM.  I've done 4 HIM's and a bunch of Olys and sprints.  I volunteered last year at Bike Special needs (a great volunteer assignment), and am pretty darned excited!

  • Keith Buell, age 36, Falls Church, VA

Goal: 1) Finish; 2) finish without hitting the wall; 3) finish under 12 hours.

Resume: First IM. I just started triathlons in 2009, and have done a handful of sprints, one Olympic, and one HIM. I ran two marathons, but they were in 2001 and 2003. I'm having some mild PF issues in one foot, and I'm hoping that won't screw up my run training too much. In my second marathon, I hit the wall hard (1st was 3:39, second was 4:30), and I also had some trouble at the end of my HIM. I started run/walking at mile 10. I ended up with a decent run time, but couldn't get any calories in on the run after mile 6 or 7. I'm afraid of what those two problems portend for a longer race.
  • Dana Sharp, 31, Rochester, NY

Goals: Finish under 15 hours, no GI issues!

Resume: This will be my 2nd IM. Did IMLP in 2007- finished in 15:16. 3 HIM, 3 marathons (including IMLP), lots of sprints and olys. Volunteered last year at run aid station #2 as the captain. Lots of work, but so much fun and met so many great peeps from all over the place!
  •  Tracy Wood, 45, Baltimore MD

Race goals- finish under `14 hr, run the marathon with knee, foot or GI issues. Enjoy the day and smile throughout

This will be 3rd IM. 2002 IM Fl, time was 14:15, 2008 IM CDA 15 something, lots of gi stuff, went too hard on bike

  • Paul Gaston 47, Grove City, Ohio (Columbus)

5th trip to race Lp, 9th IM

Goal after swim fest of 08 is to not swim through the bike and run also.

1st yr with power on the bike(meter died start of 08 race) so curious to see what the numbers will look like. Show up healthy and NOT be stupid.

  • Carly Costanza, 28 soon to be in Rochester, NY

First IM, a few sprints under my belt and first HIM last year.  Most recently a runner (x2 marathons including Boston, x3 half marathons) swimmer from way back

Goals first and foremost to finish and maybe even enjoy the experience!

  • Greg Crofford, 35, Fairfax Station, VA (spending time training in Philly and Jersey Shore over the summer.)

Goal: Put together a smooth race and see what the clock says.

3rd go at the distance. 1st crack at LP. (Just moved east from St. Louis.)

  • Trent Prough--  39 years old from Bluffton, Indiana

Goals--  Put together a perfect race (Go Sub 10) even though I may have IT band or knee issues just push through the pain and see what happens

Experience-- This will be my 3rd IM, have did 4 marathons, and multiple halfs, sprints, and olys.

Most important part of the day will be have fun and enjoy the moment of just being able to do this stuff.

  • Joe Priore, 34, Amherst, NY

Goals: Run the marathon (had 2 good IM's going before the run in '04 and '05)

Resume: IM USA in 2004, IM Canada in 2005 -- took a break because of little ones so first crack at IM as a dad
  • Kevin Lanahan, 42, Clifton Park, NY

Goals: run the marathon and walk past the med tent.

Experience: this is the first Ironman.  Many Oly races and a handful of HIMs, the last of which was Oct. '09.

  • Derek Sumida, 31, New York, NY

    Goal: shooting for 11 hrs

Experience:  Started participating in triathlons in 2007.  I've completed 5 HIM, 3 Olympics.  This will be my first full Ironman.

  • Brad Loescher, turning 46 on race day, Yardley, PA (near Philadelphia)

Goal: To learn from last year's nutrition mistakes and not end up puking at mile 24.

Exp:  This will be my 8 Ironman, and 3rd time in Lake Placid

  • Mike Allen, 43 turning 44, 5 days after the race on 7/29, Nantucket MA

Goal: to redeem myself from the swimming nightmare of IM Louisville last year (my first IM) 2:21 but made the cut-off due to the TT start and went 13:18 overall which, I would like to do better than that and have a more balanced race and run the whole marathon.

2nd shot at IM distance, have done HIM, sprint and a local Oly-high-bred on Nantucket, which for some reason I won the masters division!, and yes there were other competitors in itimage

I will be there with a few friends from Nantucket and Newport RI who will also be racing but are not ENr's yet until I kick there arses this year!!!

I am participating in the TOC camp which, I cannot wait for and am currently on vacation in New Zealand and have logged 291 miles and 17,500 feet of climbing so far on the bike in 7 rides. LIFE IS GOOD!!!! pinch me I think I'm dreaming!
  • Doug Iannarelli, M45
Using LP as a hard training / test race...my A race is IM Cozumel - (gotta redeem myself from last year's IMCoz) - awesome race, just spent the marathon racing to each spot-o-pot..gonna try some pacing / nutrition things for LP....hopefully arrive healthy and have a go....
  • Coach P, M35
IM #15, psyched to have so many EN folks on hand, hoping to have a breakthrough day and go sub-10. It's gonna be awesome!
    P
  • Sean Begley, 31, Belleville, NJ.
Goals: Finish under 12hr 15 min, try to run most of marathon. (Had to run/walk last years IMKY and finished the marathon in 4:40.)
Race Resume: IMKY 2008 and 2009. This is my 3rd IM. Have done a fair amt of halfs, sprints, and other types of races (Marathons, 1/2 Marathons, etc...)
I was super pysched when I got into IMLP last year with online registration. I'd really like to try to improve my IM time (finished IMKY 2009 in 12:40 so want to see if I can go around 12:15 if possible for IMLP. I know it's a different course so hard to compare. After this IM, I will likely take a break from the IM scene for a year or two so I can focus on shorter races again, going fast, and starting a family.
  • Dave Corso, 42, Milford, MA

This will be my 5th LP and at this point I am just rrying to show up as fit as possible and see what happens,  This hasn't been a stellar OS for me so I'm not sure how this is going to turn out.

  • Atif malik, 31, Milford, CT
Goal: Have a solid marathon run, enjoy the day.
Resume: 1st IM race. 2 1/2 IM , several olympics and sprints. 2 marathons
  • Scott Davis, 41, Bethel CT

4th IM -all at LP.  Goal is sub 10:40 (current PR is 11:15), and looking to have as much fun on #4 as I have on the first 3!!

Glad to be aboard.  Look forward to training with everyone.

  • Fergus Whelan - 39 - Dublin, Ireland.

3rd time Lake Placid competitor - Love the location - it keeps drawing me back. Hoping for no rain this year!!

Looooooonnnnnnnng time triathlete (first race in 1986!!)

Planning to go sub 10:30 for a new PB (by 1 hour- why not!!)

"Dream it, see it, believe it- it will be"
  • Terry Wyatt - 46 - Union, KY

Goals for the race: Finish in 11:00 or less, Bike and/or Run PR

Resume: IMUSA is 3rd long course race. IMKY - 2008, IMWI - 2009.

  • Damon Usborne 36 Toronto Ontario

Goals: Have fun and Finish the race

Resume: First Ironman, Third Year Triathlete, Olympics and one 70.3
  • Suzanne Kinsky, 32, Silver Spring, MD

Goals: Just do it. A dream time would be sub-13.

Resume: This will be my first IM and first time running the marathon distance. I starting racing tri over a decade ago and this will be my 5th consecutive season post-rheumatoid arthritis diagnosis/remission. I did two HIMs last year (5:44 PR on a decently hilly course) and have had a lot of (surprising) success podium-ing in my age group over the years.
    • Steve Perkins, 40, Denver, Colorado
    • Goal: Just Finish.  12 hours would be great, but I'm not sure what to expect at this venue.
    • Race resume: 3rd Ironman (IM Moo '04 and '07), first time at  Lake Placid.  I'll be racing with my twin brother, Dan, who raced with me at IM Moo in 2007.
  •  Eric Voboril, 35, Baltimore, Maryland

My goal: No GI issues on the run, racing at mile 18.  I'd like to finish early enough and strong enough so I can be out on the course playing "Eye of the Tiger" on the accordion for the later finishers.  Whether I'm making them smile, or making them run away from me faster, I figure it will help.

This is my 3rd Ironman, the first IMUK (08), the second IMAZ (09).  I used to live in the Adirondacks.  My first bicycle century was from Blue Mountain Lake to Lake Placid and back about 9 years ago, and my first encounter with Ironman was getting in a traffic jam outside of LP the day before the race that same year.  Coming back to LP is completing a circle for me.

  • Well, through long deliberations, I have come to the decision that two Ironman events over the course of 3 months is more than I can juggle. So, I have decided to withdraw from this year's race in Lake Placid a focus entirely on Hawaii.

    Good luck to everyone racing!
  • Brad:

if you're looking to unload a rooom for a couple of the nights, let me know.  I might be interested.  Congrats on Kona.

    Kevin

  • Lesley Gilotti, 35, Harrisburg, Pa

    goal 1: enjoy the day

    goal 2: sub 14
