Mid Plan Break
Hey P,
Been going pretty strong for the last few months, since recovering from Feb/early March. Power & Paces looking good, for me.
Presently in GF plan (week 5), transitioning to the last 12 weeks of IM plan after the 8 weeks of GF.
Pretty much as plan prescribes, maybe a little extra volume here and there, but no warning signs.
Taking the family to Disney in a couple of weeks....Friday of GF week 7 thru Wed of GF week 8. I 'plan' on doing minimal 'training' during that period. One, to rest (at least, as much as one can rest at Disney). Two, to preserve SAU's. I will take some shoes and may do a couple of short runs with accels but want to focus on the crew. Figure there's enough walking around to stay active. Looking at it as an active recovery phase, will do my best to eat OK and stuff like that.
I'm pretty much just asking for you to assure me that I'm not sabotaging my IM goals by taking it easy for a couple of days, 13 weeks out from IMMoo. Been on target to here, then take a short break, then hone in on those last 12-13 weeks to race day.
Am I screwing it all up?

2. building on the above point....I'm hacking the next 1 3/4 weeks to 'earn' those days off in Disney.
Starting tomorrow, have tomorrow off and I'm thinking of getting some extra volume in on the bike, with a short trans run.
Tues- long day at work, will prob swim and do one of our short runs with accels.
Wed- Off, but can't go too big cuz it's my son's 17th bday and want to be present, both physically and mentally.
Thurs- long day at work, thinking GF scheduled VO2 stuff
Friday- more work, thinking swim and lighter stuff to rest for a biggish weekend.
Sat- can go big and fast
Sun- open to go, either as planned or as you may suggest
The following week is work every day, so I'll stick to the GF week 8 up thru the Thursday workout.
Travelling to Orlando early Friday, will be back later in the day on Wednesday to pick things back up.
Thanks for any tips/feedback.
Chris
I'm gonna stick to the GF plan except for adding a little time over the weekend. Nothing that would scare a coach. Continue with the GF plan as scheduled until the trip.
Once home, I think I'll go ahead and switch over to the IM plan rather than finish the last 5 days of GF. (BTW, this particular GF block has really helped me get back on track with the intensity stuff that I was kind of hesitant on, worked great, Thanks!)
Thanks Patrick
