Sedona, AZ

Hi all,

Starting this Friday I'll be on a family vacation in Sedona AZ.  I've set up a road bike rental for the week.  Does anyone have any tips for ride/run routes?  We are renting a house near the Village of Oak Creek.

Thanks for any tips you might have.

  • Steve, couple of nice road rides:

    1. Loop from Village, to Sedona, to Cornville and back http://www.mapmyride.com/routes/view/216387593 (the ride from sedona down to cornville is on divided highway, but has a extra wide shoulder, is very safe.)

    2. Vary the first loop, but heading right to cottonwood, instead of left to cornville, and if really ambitious, make the climb to Jerome ~ 1700 in 5 miles! Have the fam meet you there for lunch, and wander all the artist galleries.

    3. Variation 3. Do # 2 but continue climbing past Jerome, up and over the mountain pass, and down to Prescott. Make a one way ride and have the family meet you for lunch in downtown Prescott. Lots of great places to each and drink micro brews.

Do not ride up Oak creek Canyon, there is no shoulder, and traffic is crazy. Do take the kids swimming up there though!

  • Oh and Village of Oak Creek is a great starting point for some of the best trail running you will do anywhere. Easiest directions are to start at bell rock and link up any number of trails from there. Have Fun!!!!

  • Thanks Rian!  I'll be sure to check out those rides.  Sounds awesome!
