Tim Cronk Quassy OLY Race Report
Great race . Hard Course. Was a hot and humid day but lots of shade and only a few hours in the AM so wasnt too bad. The HIM folks may say a little different being out there late morning and early afternoon!
2 weeks after IMTX , feeling good but chest still hurts and have some soreness from where I got kicked in the IMTX swim.
Swim - got to start in the first wave and race at the front for a change, 126 in the Men 45+ wave start, lined up in front, swam hard, got some nice drafts, no real contact, didnt have to contend with other waves in front , (this is what it must be like to race as a pro) it just felt like racing instead of going to battle in some survival test called a mass start. 11th out of the water or 3rd in my AG out of 33. 23:40 but I think the swim course is measured at .90 little short.
T1- chip came off with wetsuit , (yes it was safety pinned) sat down(actually thinking stay in your box) and had to repin it twice, lost some slots there. still a good time 2:35
Bike- Had done a little FTP work since IMTX and felt good so was roughly targeting .95 or NP223 for my maximum targets. Very hard course either up or down but very nice pavement. Rode .94 NP 222 and came off the bike in 1st AG(but did not know it at the time) and 4th from wavestart(this I knew as a volunteer shouted your 5th). I got 25.5 miles on the bike , I think they said is was 25?

T2- Grrrr I did it again , racked my bike in the wrong spot. only one row off and corrected it quickly. 60 seconds even.
Run--- Bunch of EN peeps cheering right away provide the MOJO to put the pedal to the metal. Figured my best case scenario was to maybe averaged 7min miles but the run was like the bike , very hard and either up or down , run fast on flat and down , go slow but make sure still working on the ups. Passed 1 guy on the run from a lower AG and I got passed by 1 guy (25 year old Overall winner who started in a wave behind me). Saw coach P on the run course around 5 miles. This makes my 5th race of having Coach P out on the course and really adds to the experience. So held on to the unknown 1stAG and 4th in Wavestart. 27Male and 27th overall out of 700+ .Finished strong to a bunch of EN peeps. garmin show's 6:58's and the course times at 7:03's.

NO ---PR for the OLY distance .
However for the OLY distance I did have a PR for NP power on the bike , PR Pace for the Run , the swim time and pace would be a PR as well if the course was accurate.
Comments
@Nemo and Kim.... Negative on the OLY PR... sorry about the confusion... That course is freaking hard.... I was 6 minutes off my Lobsterman OLY PR which is an easier course, I was just stating a PB for NP at the OLY distance and also a PB for run pace at that distance!
Can't wait to read the HIM reports as they come in... Bet it was hot????
