HIM is on a Saturday, not a Sunday. What is the best way to tweak training plan?

Hi coach P,

I'm getting pumped for my first HIM and was looking at the last few weeks of the 20 week intermediate HIM plan. I'm starting week 17 tomorrow (Monday, June 3) and given that my race is on a Saturday (June 29), what do you suggest for the final few days pre-race? I was just going to hack the plan as best as I could, but before doing that I wanted to seek your advice.

For instance, I would do the easy 'Friday' run on Friday before leaving for the U.S and do the 'Saturday' swim upon arrival at Tupper Lake on Friday (if it's not too late).  I think that everything else can pretty much remain the same.

This race could be interesting. I've never seen the course and will hopefully have time to at least drive the course the night before the race, but it could easily turn into a race where I swim, bike and run the course for the first time during the race - eek! http://tupper-lake.com/2013-tupper-lake-tinman-triathlon/

  • Naomi, check the race report forum, we've had LOTS of people do tupper. The best fix is to drop monday and move the rest of the day's forward by a day (Tuesday to Monday, Wednesday to Tuesday, etc). Hope that helps!!!
