Rev3 / Half Iron as Key Race...Feedback Please!

Folks, Rev3 was our first key race of the year and our first half key race ever.  I thought it was perfect; the weekend was chill, a half let's folks of all abilities connect, and the venue was legitimate. What was your feedback on the weekend?

What could we do better? What did we do well?

Would you recommend EN does more "key halves" or stick to IMs?

Thanks and again, congrats!!!

  • As a relatively new member (Jan '13) of EN this was my first experience at an EN focus race.   I found the experience awesome!   The lunch on Saturday was relaxed and friendly.  It was so good to finally meet some of the peeps in the flesh.  And the support during the event, both from fellow participants and our roadside cheering section was just great.   I've always done tris alone and the support and comraderie really boosted my spirit.  Brenda is amazing!  She has such a generous spirit and so much  enthusiasm.  I really felt her positive energy all day.  I can't think of anything more EN could do, it was just perfect.   And yes, I think supporting some key HIMs would be nice.  Thank you and the EN team for everything you've done.  And to my fellow teammates, you ROCK!  Thanks for your encouragement and kind words throughout the day.
  • I love having EN out in full force at a race. It is really nice to meet teammates live after training virtually. I think the weekend was great. X2 on Brenda being fab!

Re team dinner.... Would be great for everyone to get up and introduce themselves as with a group that large, it is hard to meet everyone.

Being selfish here... Would love HIM focus events since I will prob only do full IM every few years. Also, the pre-race WKO posting and conversation was a bit lacking in the group... Prob because most were using the race as practice for Placid but that is prob one thing I would have liked to have seen more of.

Loved the EN mojo for this weekend!
  • I really like the idea of a a HIM as a focus event in addition to a full distance. There are probably lots of people who may not be up for a full distance in any given year, but can much more easily swing training for a half in their schedule.

Regarding Quassy - I think it is actually perfect for showcasing execution skills of EN members. My only issue with the venue is the fact you have to check in bikes a day early, which pretty much means that unless you happen to live within an hour of the event, you have to get lodging. I guess two years of the Patriot Half have spoiled me in that regard image But I suppose the same would be true for any half, really.

From an EN perspective, the only thing I'd change is perhaps having a meetup for a light dinner instead of lunch. I know I wasn't the only one who didn't get there until later in the day on Saturday, and I'd like to have had the opportunity to meet folks - but I just couldn't get there for lunch. It just seems to me that if the bikes have to be checked in my 7 pm, everyone is there already, so a dinner meetup might be more convenient.

Other then that, I think it went really well from an EN mojo perspective.
