CDA Training this weekend: Do RR or do Kansas 70.3?

This weekend will be two weeks before Coeur d'Alene. The plan call for a RR (112 mi bike/1 hour run brick). I also have the opportunity to do Kansas 70.3 (Lawrence is just 45 minutes away).

Which would be the best choice to prep for CDA? I have not done a Tri yet this year...

Thanks,

Greg

  • Note: RR is Sat with Sun off; 70.3 is Sunday
  • Do the RR. 70.3 is a different beast, faster paced less nutrition, etc. You need to make sure your pacing and nutrition are dialed in for IMCdA. Execution is everything for an Ironman.

  • Oooops, Sorry! I just realized this was your micro thread and not the IMCdA thread. Anyway my answer is just my $.02. Listen to what RnP say.

  • If you haven't raced this year, and you are pretty confident with your pacing target numbers and their correlation with reality, I would race. You need some jitters, a swim start, and race day stress. You can race the bike and swim at HIM targets, but dial the run back so as not to do too much damage. You must 100% focus on pre-race meal timing, in-race nutrition, aero position and all your "racey" gear, etc....
