How do you store your Stinger Waffles on bike?

Ok, not sure if this is really a "gear" question, but here goes: I just discovered Honey Stinger Waffles for long bikes (OMG, where have they been all my life??? ). I find it a bit difficult to open the wrapper mid-ride w/ sweaty and sunscreen-slimy fingers, but putting them into my jersey all unwrapped doesn't seem like a good idea, because they're a) sticky; and b) seem a bit fragile.  So, what do folks do? Do you just pre-rip the wrapper, or are there other solutions?

thank you!

  • i usually eat everything on the drive from the store to my house...so never had the chance to get them on a bike ride image
  • I don't chew anything on the bike - I go all Infinite Nutrition. Simple, flexible, convenient.
  • I eat a Stinger waffle or a Poptart during most (if not all) of the HIM or IM races I have done. I just break them up into five or six pieces, put the pieces into a little sandwich bag and place that into my Bento.

I generally agree with 100% liquid nutrition on the bike but I get hunger pangs after a couple of hours on the bike and the Stinger waffle or Poptart makes that go away.  I don't do it for nutritional reasons per se, I do it to make me feel better.

  • For races, stingers x2 broken in half and stored in open wrapper in the bento, along with other calories.

For training, 2 in the jersey pocket to be opened while stopped on the side of the road whenever i feel like downing one (long rides only).

Late night hunger desperation, furtive glances over my shoulder while trying not to wake my kids with the cookie wrappers...
