NJ peeps - care to share your RR site ?

I don't like my current RR site. Its logistically a pain, I can't really park my aid station (er Sienna minivan :-))  in a convenient place and its got a fair amount of traffic. Anybody have a nice quiet loop in Northern or even mid-Jersey where I can park my vehicle and get it done ? I'm in Hoboken and dont mind if I have to drive a bit to get away from my high-traffic-cyclist-hating-iphone-watching-texting-and-driving zone.

My plan B is Rockland Lake State Park in southern NY. Its a park road (great), low traffic (great), restrooms handy (great) but 1 loop is only 3.7 miles (guaranteed to drive me batty over the 6 hours).

  • Coming right up! The Mapso Tri Club has an awesome 56 mile loop from Millburn to Gladstone (Coco Luxe!!!! Yum!) and back. We kill each other on it every weekend and then some. When ya thinking of doing such a thing? Then there's the rather tough terrain in the area for a long run. We can park your aid station at my house. Since you're looking at Lake Placid I'll take you on a tougher course for a better hill.
  • @Peter - thanks for the kind offer! I think RR1 is in two weeks time and RR2 is 4-5 weeks away. I'll PM you once I do a little more thinking/planning...I do need a site where I can refill/change out bottles hourly (or hit a convenience store) b/c I am a heavy heavy sweater (60-70 oz/hour) so not sure your loop would be ideal from that perspective.
  • Oh, I hear ya. I have it covered. Also, this weekend is the Mapso Father's Day Century ride. 7th annual now. 5:30 AM start. You're back before noon. Fully supported by our bike shop. No tri-bikes allowed though. It's a big group, around 50.
  • Rich, I'm in the Red Bank area and cycle just west of here all the time.  There are many open roads and some hills with frequent opportunities for water/aid stops.  We just did an 80 mile ride from here on Sunday part of it was the Autism course which starts from Brookdale Community College but I amended it it so we could finish on the oceanfront from Point Pleasant to Long Branch.  Mostly flat, some rollers, elevation gain was about 2200 ft. You could amend it for a RR. Nice ride, here's the link:  http://connect.garmin.com/course/3868451

  • South Jersey here lots of good riding but FLAT
