Week 14, RR day, Injury and Travel!

Hi Patrick,

Your week 14 video discusses a RR this week, but my plan doesn't have it until week 15?  When should I actually be doing this?  

Also, I have a minor (hopefully) knee issue and am taking this week off except for swimming.  The doctor has me on some meds and wants to see if the inflammation comes down with rest and meds.  I told him about the upcoming LP Ironman in July and how much time and training I have invested and not doing it is not an option.  However, he suggested having the knee drained and shot with a steroid if the inflammation is not resolved with the meds.  Any thoughts or recommendations on this plan?  

With the knee issue and an upcoming conference (June 21-28) with no access to a bike, when would be the latest you would suggest getting the RR in?  I may not be able to get it in until 4th of July weekend.  Is this too close to race day?

  • @Frank the video this week is to prepare you for next week...that's all...we wanted to give you more than 3 days notice!

    Your knee is a bit concerning...I would head to the Injury Forum to post more info / get more input...but resting it is totally fine. If you are resting and have a conference, then we can do the RR that late, no worries...I would ask your doc about the potential for water running.

    In the meantime, watch your food consumption...time off isn't bad but can be made worse if you add 10lbs!!! (He says, from TOTAL experience). image
