Ryan's micro forum for the last severeal weeks leading to IMLP

Hey Coach -

We're getting into the last bit of the plans leading up to Lake Placid.  Unfortunately, due to work travel and the rebounding economy, it looks like I'll be missing some workouts during the week because work volume has picked up - just when things get more and more critical for IM training!  Fortunately, I'll still have the weekends available for volume.

I may be able to squeeze in threshold runs or FTP bikes here and there if I have a reshuffled week, but at the moment it looks like I'll be missing at least 2 of the Thursday long runs because I simply won't be home on those Thursdays.  So my question is this - in the event I cannot do a 2+ hr long run on the road, I'm curious which of the weekend bikes should be bumped in favor of the long run - the typical 4 hr Saturday ride at 70-75%, or the Sunday ABP ride?  Of course, this is assuming that is the proper approach to take.  Or perhaps bump the 4 hr saturday ride one week for the long run, and the 3 hr ABP sunday ride the next week?

Thanks!

  • @Ryan I hear you but it's not the end of the world by any means. Put the long run on Sunday and make the following Monday's an easy swim or off day as required. Saturday ride stays the same; I would put the Wed workout on Tuesday, Tuesdays run on Wed, and then Thursday is an ABP session (trainer!?) of 60' up to 90' depending what you can fit in!
