Swim drill restbits

Coach P,

Your wisdom on swim workouts needed- background: swimming is not my gig, always feel pretty spent coming off a drill set- 155'T where others are like "that was relaxing!!! My situation: I can get through the drills while maintaining form "such as it is" BUT I need like double the restbits i.e. 20" instead of 10" etc in order to perform decently. Qusetion: is this proper training or do you prefer to see the restbits where you have them and shorten drill set? Trying to get at which is the higher priority to good training. Thanks Man

  • @Joe, take as much rest as needed to swim the next one at your best. That said. it sound's like body position is your big limiter? Check out this wicked old school video on Side kick drill (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7RJn7rsbM7Q) and note the above water stuff at :30 + ... Here you can see how he's leaning far enough in to get the relaxed HAND on his HIM out of the water...that is your top goal and a top drill. Done with fins of course...if you can get a video, i'll take it!
