Vo2 Max Test and training zones

HI all, I am schedules to do a VO2 max test on Friday. Can it be used to change the training zones?

  • @Avi, it _can_ be used to modify your zones, but the only caveat is that it's not very applicable to your actual training. We prefer that you do your own TT workouts as test since that's exactly how you train, and how you measure your zones. IOW, you can use the numbers they give you but unless you are using their devices when training you will have to guesstimate what your actual zone is based off of your own tools. I suggest you make sure they correlate your VO2 with a specific heart rate number (for bike and/or run) and either pace (run) or speed (bike) so you can use that number going forward! Be sure to 100% follow their pre-test guidance re training and food...both fatigue and recent meals can possibly skew the oxygen readouts!
