Bryan's Macro Thread
Hey Rich, finally starting my thread .
I'm signed up for Vineman 70.3 and then IMLT and you have me on the plans and I'm hammering away.
I have a wrinkle, though (of course). My wife is playing soccer in the Senior World Games in Torino Italy, so we are going to be going there from 7/24 to 8/13. As you of course know, IMLT is 9/22. I promised I would be good and not drive her crazy with my training on vacation. Good news is she likes biking and we're looking at some possible biking options while we're there. I've also signed up for the half marathon as part of the games (I figured that would be a good supported long run day), and we will of course be playing mixed doubles tennis.
What training should I prioritize to do while I'm over there? I will obviously be able to run some amount. I'm figuring I should be able to find a pool. Biking will be the tough one. I'm figuring rent a bike for the touring, should I try and take my own bike? I've checked out
http://www.italiancycling.com/, do you have recommendations? Is there anything I should be doing before/after the trip in order to be better prepared for IMLT?
Thanks for any help.

I'll miss RR #1, since that will be the Saturday before we leave to come home and the day of the half marathon. Should I move RR #1 to the following weekend, or is it best to just skip it?
I'm really wondering about dragging my bike along for the trip. Seems like such a bad idea to not be riding, but a pain to travel with. We'll probably be staying on the coast for a while, so I'm thinking I'll be able to get in my swimming in open water even if I have trouble finding a pool.
Should I start something in the micro thread on the weeks that I'm actually in Italy for advice on how to mix those weeks up?
Anybody have good advice on places to stay in Northern Italy? Bike rental places? Great rides to take?
4/20 - SVIT Olympic - local race with not a lot of overhead, could skip if it's too close to wildflower
5/3 - Wildflower long course - this is a team focus event, right?
6/8 - Folsom Olympic - relatively close, haven't done it before
9/14 - Big Kahuna, hIM. Low overhead, fun race in Santa Cruz
I'm certainly open for suggestions. Currently in the middle of the Nov OS.
Thanks.

Those are all good races, no issues from a season planning perspective. Yes, WF is a team race but the lake is very, very dry and low right now. I'm kinda holding off and waiting to see what the rains do Jan-Feb before I push it out to the Cali folks.
Yeah, Auburn works. If you google it you'll find discussions where TriCal is saying they have a contingency plan and WILL have the race. But, yeah, CA has been stupid dry for the last couple years.
