TSS chart question

So let's say I do my RR and get time "x."  Now my RR is on a flat course but my race is at LP.  How do I predict my estimated finish time to determine my TSS if I am uncertain how the elevation gain may affect my time?  Or do I use the RR time and see what the TSS is?

  • What were the time, distance, TSS, and IF of your RR, as well as elevation gain and VI if you know them? That data set may help us extrapolate the goal IF you need on race day.

Im assuming you had a successful run off the bike.
  • I plan on completing the RR#2 fully as RR#1 was shortened by 20 miles and suboptimal on the ride. The run was great despite the heat. My question was really directed as a general question however my info is as below.

    Dist: 90 miles
    Time: 4:44
    Avg speed: 19 mph
    TSS: 205
    IF: .66
    Gain: 1366 feet
  • For RR#2, pick .71 or .72 IF. Then see how you feel. If the run is too tough, back it down to .69-.70 on race day. If not, ride .72.

This holds unless your projected finish time is sub-5 hours or over about 7:30.
