Jessie Stevens's Personal Macro Thread

Hey Coach! I finished IMCDA on Sunday (yay my first IM!!), and now don't know how to transition properly to recover/prepare for IMCanada in 8 weeks. I was using the intermediate IM plan for CDA, and for the most part everything went well (biggest problem was a lack of mental toughness on the run). I posted my race report already if you care to take a peek. Also, I would like to participate in a local oly tri on July 27 (in about 4 weeks). Hopefully that can be worked in.

Thanks for your help!!

  • Jessie,

Congrats on your race! Please take the Season Planning Survey, under the Training tab above, and I'll plan it out for you.

  • Ok pretty loaded question for ya. I really want to qualify for Kona in the next 2 years as I think this will be my best chance while I'm in the 25-29 age group. What would it take for me to get there and is that a realistic possibility? I just completed my first year of long course racing (IMCDA and IMC). I PR'ed at IMC by about 23 minutes at 12:45:33. My age group winner finished at 10:01. I know that's a lot of time to shave off, but what do you think?? Thank you!!
  • I recommend you ask that question in the General Discussion forum. You should get lots of feedback from people regarding the progressions they've seen, there perspective on what it takes to make those goals happen, etc.

That said, that 10:01 is crazy, crazy fast. I'm very certain that time is not the norm for your age group so I don't think I'd use that as your benchmark.
